Banned books! Hooray!

So I’m looking up the ALA’s list of banned and challenged books to see which ones I’ve read:

  • Great Gatsby, F Scott Fitzgerald
  • Cather in the Rye, JD Salinger
  • To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee
  • Of Mice and Men, John Steinbeck
  • Catch-22, Joseph Heller
  • A Farewell to Arms, Ernest Hemingway
  • The Jungle, Upton Sinclair
  • Bless Me, Ultima by Rudolfo Anaya
  • Blubber, Judy Blume
  • Speak, Laurie Halse Anderson
  • A Wrinkle in Time, Madeline L’Engle
  • The Giver, Lois Lowry
  • The Outsiders, SE Hinton

I looked at the list of challenged classics, and most frequently challenged books for 1990-1999 and 2000-2009. I haven’t necessarily enjoyed all the books above, but I’m thankful I had the opportunity to read them. Those of you who see this and are interested should make a list of banned books you’ve read.
